Structural Integrity

Our orangery roofs are BBA-approved and come with a 25-year life expectancy certificate. They have been wind-tested at speeds of up to 130mph and fire-tested by Warringtonfire. Our orangery roofs are also capable of withstanding up to 4m of unsupported bifold or sliding doors.

Energy Efficient

Our decorative super-insulated columns provide high levels of comfort and have a U-value of only 0.15 W/m²K. Our slimline ridges are 30% slimmer than traditional ridges and come with high-performance thermal breaks to prevent cold spots and condensation.

Tested

Exova Warringtonfire tests our conservatory roofs to ensure compliance with fire safety. Our orangery roofs also fully comply with the latest Building Regulations and have been pre-approved by Assent and JHAI.

Internal Pelmet

Our orangery roofs consist of a vaulted ceiling and have an internal pelmet around the perimeter. This provides a space for you to install lights or speakers in a living space that is usually difficult to light.

Cost-Effective

More robust than a fully glazed conservatory, an orangery features dwarf walls and a lantern roof to make you feel like it’s a seamless extension of your Honiton, Devon, or nearby home while still letting the natural light flood in. If you want to extend your home with a glamorous multifunction space, add bifold doors to link your orangery to your garden.

Whether you opt for heritage green, classic white or contemporary anthracite, our range of styles, finishes, and colours puts a dream orangery within reach of practically every budget. If you want to add more space to your home with a structure that provides superior insulation, seamless styling and lots of privacy, an orangery is the perfect choice.

Further Customisation

We offer numerous further customisation options for your orangery. We can provide cornices that are curved or one-, two-, or three-tiered that are available in four standard colours and any RAL colour. Our super-insulated columns can also be added to your orangery in different colours, panelling, and sizes for more warmth.

Our orangery roofs can be designed with larger spans and door openings. They also come with different glazing options, including shaped, side-shaped, full-length panels, or a combination of all three. We also offer performance glazing with a 1.0 W/m²K U-value and high or low light transmission and solar rejection depending on how much sun your orangery gets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an orangery?

An orangery was once a status symbol for the grand houses of Europe, a building where citrus trees could be grown and enjoyed in harsher climates. Nowadays, an orangery is a style of conservatory that’s more robust and energy efficient than a fully glazed option, incorporating dwarf walls and brick pillars that can be perfectly matched to your existing brickwork. However, with its lantern roof and glazed walls, you’ll still enjoy exceptional light with additional privacy, making an orangery the perfect choice for your Honiton, Devon, or nearby home.

Is an orangery warmer than a conservatory?

The answer really depends on the materials and type of glazing used. For example, a single glazed orangery can’t match the energy efficiency of a conservatory that’s been double glazed with A+ glass. However, a modern orangery created using the latest generation of glass will be warmer than a conservatory thanks to its solid walls and semi-glazed roof.

At Otter Windows, we ensure that all our products use next-generation double glazing and high-performance glass for superior energy efficiency and smaller heating bills.

Is an orangery cheaper than an extension?

An orangery is much more affordable than a full extension and gives you the best of both worlds, offering the light and space of a conservatory and the functionality of an extension. We think it’s worth paying a little extra to upgrade to a sophisticated orangery, and we’ll be happy to give you a free, no-obligation quote when you contact us.
